Brink at the age of 14, was pregnant, and had to drop out of her high school. In order to support her family, she relocated with her child Davion after giving birth. Brink's first band, Pulse from Albany New York was founded in 1995. They played mostly local concerts for groups like Coal Chamber and Sevendust. However, the group split later on. At the age of twenty-five, she moved her home from California and moved to Los Angeles, looking for her big break. Brink performed in coffee shops, bars and stores while searching for the right group. In the years following, Chris Howorth, a participant in the group she's in, attended an interview with her. Howorth refused to speak with her because she is a female. He changed his mind when he heard her sing. The group was founded in the early part of Jeff Fabb and them, along with guitarist Blake Bunzel. Then, guitarist Blake Bunzel joined the band together with bassist Josh Newell. The name of the group had been changed In This Moment after two shows.
